Leaving West Chicago westbound:
It is my understanding the track grade westbound was one of the highest on the former Chicago North Western routes.
I heard no diesel assist as the UP 4014 left town.

I doubt that he is "part of the crew".

Honestly can’t we just give the constant nitpicking of anything to do with the crew and or non-crewmembers position a rest? We are seeing a live Big Boy touring half of the country to the delight of 100s of thousands. The fact that it’s not an exact reproduction of 1950 is pretty much irrelevant in 2019. It’s not a railfan photographers special it’s a public relations tour. Fantastic video. Kudos.

I’ll have to check but I believe the ruling wb grade on the Geneva Sub is between Randall Road west of Geneva and La Fox.

Some of the best sounding exhaust I have heard from 4014.  Start-up type shots have a good chance for that, and you did well.  I really appreciated the nicely executed panning, which is a lost art today.  I don't like seeing a video with the train just rolling by time after time, while its on a tripod.  Thats not the way the viewer watches it in real life---they turn to keep watching it.

Only downside was Mr. Oblivious walking toward you as he viewed his stills in the viewfinder!!!!  Arrrggghhhh!!!
