Who was running?  Unusual not to see Doyle up there.   Is this kind of an activity to give members a chance at the throttle.   We used to do that with 1522, but just on the Museum of Transportation grounds.

Mike Warren, retired SP/UP engineer. Great head.

Let's hope that this icon of steam preservation can keep running on these trips.  I participated in many of the Holiday Express trips in years past, and enjoyed every minute of it.  If Amtrak insurance is no longer available to get 4449 out on the mains again, then let those who have never seen this beauty in the past, experienc the wonder of seeing her do what steam locomotives do.

The cycling/running path parallels the railroad the whole way. I believe it's actually on the r/w by agreement with OPR.

Doyle must be sick or on a world tour!
