LS&I 20 by Highway 160 over La Veta Pass, CO
Author: cozephyr

Sandton Rail Company LLC, c/o Sandton Capital Partners LP sold Lake Superior & Ishpeming #20 to the City of Allen, Texas, in early 2020.  Steve Butler was contracted to prep the #20 for movement from Alamosa, Colorado, to Allen, Texas, by highway trucks.  Move over La Veta Pass, CO, occurred 12 October 2020.  #20 will be on display track - NOT operational.

As per filings on the STB website a business court in Michigan last October (2019) issued a judgment against Iowa Pacific Holdings (IPH) awarding $3.2 million plus 23 railcars and 17 locomotives to Varilease Financial. This past July Varilease sold the equipment to Sandton Rail Company LLC, c/o Sandton Capital Partners LP of New York. Sandton is the company now selling the equipment through Ozark Mountain, they applied the SDCX reporting marks.

Thanks for sharing Chip ... interesting move and apparent restoration

Here's how the locomotive appeared sitting in Alamosa alongside/behind the
SLRG / Rio Grande Scenic office on 8/27/2020.  Pretty amazing wooden "cow catcher"

Is the blocking job on the trailer good here?

And here is a photo of the 20 that I took in Marquette Michigan on November 9, 1969.
