Strasburg Rail Road in Lancaster

OK, for those of you in the know, what is the Strasburg Rail Road doing today?  Here it is early Saturday morning and they are up and running a steam locomotive.  Does anyone know what special event they are doing today?  Thanks.

Yes, most of us are aware of them being open since around July.  But they have the locomotive #90 out and right now it is pulling all of their antique freight cars most likely for a charter photo group as observed on their Virtual Rail Cam.

Just looked at their camera at 11:30 EDT.  Two in steam at E. Strasburg: 2-10-0 and 2-6-0.  One (4-8-0) at Leaman Place running around its train.  Schedule for today at Noon says: Steam Strikes Back, part 3.  Might be interesting.

The Strasburg Rail Road is located in Ronks, PA, not Lancaster.  Ronks is a 24 minute drive and a 3 hour/26 minute walk from Lancaster.

The U.S. Post Office calls it Ronks but in all honesty, it is really part of the town of Strasburg, Pennsylvania.  Our postal service calls many places by the wrong name in that they give it a zip code and then try to stick a name to it.  We have a similar situation up here near me.  I am in White Marsh, but many people who live in a place called Perry Hall and now given a postal zip code of 21236 and the Post Office calls it Nottingham.  Thai is pure Bosh, the real Nottingham is located on the other side of I-95 which divides part of White Marsh from Perry Hall, Maryland.  The Post Master General needs a geography lesson and a kick in the bottom.

I go by the address on the Strasburg Rail Road's website.

That said, before you go around saying that anyone "needs a geography lesson and a kick in the bottom," you should not mislead people about the Strasburg Rail Road being in Lancaster.  It matters because not everyone has an automobile and some readers, not familiar with the area, make think, based on your post, that they can ride Amtrak to Lancaster and will be able to easily access the Strasburg Rail Road by walking, riding the bus or with a short trip in a taxi.

Hey, please don't misquote me Rule G.   I stated that the Strasburg Railroad is located in part of the town of Strasburg, Pennsylvania and not Ronks.  I did NOT mention Lancaster.  I agree that the railroad is not that close to the city of Lancaster, but it is not in a town called Ronks.  One can easily walk from the center of Strasburg down to the Strasburg Station.  Again, the Post Office may call it Ronks, but physically the railroad station is in Strasburg.  Please read my post once again.
