This Steam Locomotive Traveled Farther In Her Years Than Most Did
Author: LoggerHogger

While certain steam locomotives were known for covering many miles between their various owners over their years in service, few covered more miles than this one.

Built by Baldwin in Eddystone, Pennsylvania in 1911, this narrow gauge 4-6-0 was shipped to her new owner across the country in Nevada as the Nevada-California-Oregon Ry as their #11.  She worked there until 1926 when she was sold the the Pacific Coast Ry in San Luis Obisbo, California.  She worked there as their #111.

As if that was not enough traveling, she would be sold in 1942 to the Oahu Railway and was shipped by freighter across the Pacific Ocean to the Oahu Ry.  In this photo #111 is resting between runs at Honolulu in June, 1946.  She would last here until 1948, when she would be finally scrapped.

This little narrow gauge Baldwin, really had some miles on her!

Neat to see.

A lot of N-C-O engines found second homes.  Interesting to trace their history.

Got any more N-C-O related images, Martin?
