Need info on PRR builders plates
Author: Milspec1

I picked these up at a local hobby shop for $10 each. I believe that they're authentic.

The first two are easy as they show the class of the locos, one steam, the other electric. How big is the keystone?

The I1 is a 2-10-0 steam locomotive. Nicknamed "Hippos".

At $10 each seems like a steal compared to some prices I have seen over the years.

Yes, if they came from the railroad, that was a steal! Because  of the small keystone size, I don't know what it was used for. Are the plates full \-size and heavy?

They are full size and very heavy. I believe the GG1 plate is aluminum.

GG1 # 4846, construction # 4290.

Served it's last days as Wilmington Shops 'snow-blower as
a 1/2 GG1, or maybe a "G1(?)..."

You got a very good price on those items..
I'll buy them all for $100.00, tight now!

I'm not sure about the keystone, but everything else looks legit. Hell of a deal on those! If you were looking to sell, please let me know.

I  went to a builders plate seminar 18 years ago and I remember someone said all PRR ovals were cast by the metal pouring into the mold from a center location,  which the back of the  I1sa plate doesn't seem to show.  But if a replica,  it's pretty good.   But

The I1sa plate shows the BLW class and consecutive number on the reverse.  It's the real thing.

After a little bit of research I found that it belongs to PRR I1sa 4576 scrapped January 1960. Found a picture of the locomotive on ebay.
