Huge part of Union Pacific history gone from home. Will the passenger cars stay in yellow?

The Selma will return to it's WP heritage and colors as Feather River and the Stanford which is already in Silvis will go back to SP Silver.
Don't know about the four coaches, maybe stay yellow but lettered Milwaukee Road

Donated along with all the other stuff, i.e. 3985, the 2-10-2, and coaches, etc.

I read that Ed was taken to the er this morning. No definitive explanation given. I hope everything is OK. It's super cold out there and the 30 to 40 mph winds, last I knew he us in the cab of the 5511, probably not much for heat or windows.

Curious as to how much work 6936 needs. can't wait to see that beast out again.

Contrary to statements made about "6936 is worn out", there is nothing wrong with her. It never got PTC installed, but other than that, she should be ready to go, assuming she was properly stored.

As one who has had his hand on her throttle more than a few times, I concur with Hot Water.  The only thing wrong with her is a figment of imagination.  A proper "Italian tune-up" would have her running as intended.  Smoothly, hot, and fast.

It went to North Platte for work, came back and never ran again, get it fixed so it could sit.

A good set of batteries and 6936 should run. I know the CNW signal system on board could be a pain at times. Without a couple of the old crew around that understood that system it could be a pain.

Good news. The hospital train arrived in Silvis at approx. 3pm cst today and that's very close to original schedule published on the UP Steam Club website. Congratulations to Ed Dickens and his team for a jpb well done!!!

Silvis, in the winter can be a miserable damn place!

Been there, done that, got multi-layered Tee shirts & long-johns..
to prove it!

if you're visiting, Dress Warm and lots of layers; you're gonna need it!
That shop can be a virtual icy, wind-tunnel....

The building is Impossible to heat...any heat goes up 150 feet, into the rafters...
above the two traveling overhead cranes..

We'd come back from Tyson down in Joslin and have to go by Silvis to see what was sitting around, that stopped when
the town decided to work on every street, all at once and it took forever to get back to the office. Railfanning brings some
chuckle moments at times, like thinking of all the conversations I've had as to why the 5511 wasn't cut up. And the fact
that it had no future......

Heresay but I heard "someone" on the UP crew was overcome by fumes from a propane heater in the baggage car.
