Cool pictures! When I swung through the south in August, 1702 was down for a boiler wash, the Graham County Shay was cooling down from the weekend, and the 610 was getting fired up for the coming weekend! Next time...

Did pay my respects to 4501 though.

John,

Thanks for posting the photos; they bring back many memories. Plus the south needs to be represented on this board in some way or another. :^)

How does the Great Lady (4501 in David P. Morgan\'s inimitable prose) look? I don\'t harbor any hopes of seeing her run again, but does she at least look good wherever it is that TYRM has her parked? Haven\'t been to Chattanooga in a looooong time.

She actually looks pretty good. If there weren\'t so much rust on the rods, she\'d look ready to be steamed up.

4501 looks alright indeed. There\'s been a good bit of talk, people wanting to raise money for her new boiler. This is only a pipe dream, of course, but never the less, she is under cover.

At last report, 4501 was near the bottom of the list in terms of restoration order, behind SR 630 (in the shop now), CN/SR 5288, and C of G 349.
