Tex-Mex Express
Author: gcm

Jan 86
Another couple shots of the Tex-Mex Express that the railroad operated between Corpus Christi and Laredo between Jan 1986 and the summer of 1989.
This was one of the early trains when the Tex Mex leased a few private cars to add to the consist.
GP38-2 867 leads and was less than a year old at the time.

Here are a few other shots I posted earlier -----------

I rode a train with a similar consist from Corpus Christi to Laredo with PVS Fanand several other Texas friends . Fun trip . The train hit three goats on the way to Laredo.

Tex-Mex was a really neat railroad! Keep the Tex-Mex flavors coming!

Neat bit of history. I remember reading an article in Trains magazine about this operation. Really wish I could have ridden it! Thanks a lot for posting these pictures.

Yep, on 2/15/86, both UP951West and I rode the TEX-MEX EXPRESS.
Never thought I'd ever get to ride over that line!

On the way back from Laredo we rode in that GOOD CHEER observation car.
We met Fred Springer on that car.

Those photos bring back memories.
