Nostalgia & History > Another Rock Island Break .Date: 12/08/05 19:13 Another Rock Island Break . Author: yardclerk Extra 4322 East, Train #38, picking up orders at Harter Yard in Oklahoma City in January 1977.
Out of the little over 8 years that I worked for the Rock Island, approximately 7 of them were spent in this run down Yard Office. As bad as it got at times, this was still the most enjoyable job I've ever had. Yardclerk Date: 12/08/05 19:19 Re: Another Rock Island Break . Author: yardclerk Extra 4542 West, Train #31, seen here crossing a Frisco industrial track and about to duck under the Santa Fe embankment, is westbound towards El Reno Ok. It had just met No 38. (in the previous pictue) at Harter.
Both of these pictures are probably reposts. Yardclerk Date: 12/08/05 19:41 Re: Another Rock Island Break . Author: 3rdswitch Awesome! I don't remember ever seeing these images. You can repost all you want. More excellent photos of a very seldom covered line.

Outside of Denver, CO in 1978 I told my parents to slow down so I could take a picture of "the neat blue train". I was a kid then - didn't even know what I was looking at. I simply knew that it was "foreign motive power" - something different than I had seen in Philly. After that - "It all went to crap". /Mitch Date: 12/08/05 20:46 Re: From an instamatic camera in '78 Author: Mgoldman Not just a crappy shot - 28 years later.
Rock Island and The Rock - not bad for a day in the back seat of the car with my parents. Date: 12/08/05 21:22 Re: Another Rock Island Break . Author: NH2006 yardclerk Wrote:
