Here is a link to a view of the same location today. Today it's the Dean Lesher Center for the Arts. http://www.landb.com/Dean_lescher_Ext_Pic.htm The depot would have been located in the middle of the street (Civic Dr at N California Blvd). The warehouse/walnut packing shed in the background on the second view became the Civic Arts Theater a.k.a. the Nut House. The cul de sac was likely the end of Almond Avenue. The trainorder signal survives as part of the Laflin station platform at Rio Vista. When I moved to Walnut Creek in 1970 the depot was gone, the SN Right of Way had become California Blvd, but both packing house structures, north and south in the views were still there. |
