A little Feather River Canyon flashback

Same location different railroads both just history. The first shot was taken in the early 60's the other later on that decade. Which color scheme do you prefer? Its amazing how a photo location can change in just a few years. Up here in Dunsmuir shots I took years ago can no longer be taken because of all the growth and I dont mean housing.

Hey Bob, is this why you're good at making firewood from trees??

I like the green but try to get either today.
The location still looks pretty much the same now.

Easy, both! I wish the WP, and BN were still around. At least UP did that cool WP SD70ACe.

The BN's look like GP39-2's. That photo was probably in 1982.

Yes, I like them both. But BN did not exist until 1970, so it couldn't have been taken in the 60's; indeed from the "weathering" that has been applied to all those BN boxcars, I would guess the BN picture could not have been taken until the 1980's.

Due to my accurate note taking I think I was off by more then a decade. Somewhere in the haze of my brain the 70's slipped right by me. Thanks for the corrections.

Thank god Kodak and others stamped dates on most slides back in those days.

It make it easier if you forget about the dates after the pics are in storage for who knows how long! Nice pics Bob and I agree with the guys, both are great and it was awsome when it was a variety of railroads. Railfanning was so much fun then!
