No, not the kind you can smoke, but they might smoke once in awhile. 3 PFE mechanical reefers in Guadalupe, CA. in 1974. These may have been bad ordered as you will see bad order tags coming up.

Couple of bad order tags on the reefers south of the Guadalupe station. The last shot is the Guadalupe station looking north on November 1t, 1974............C.C.Chas.

May I chime in here as well? Here's one from a slide that I just scanned yesterday. This picture was taken LATE one afternoon at Sneed in north Austin Texas as the reefer was rolling slowly southward in a MoP train.

Man, guadalupe must've been a hoppin' place back then. Nowadays, 'excitement' in guad is seeing #14 and the SMV arrive in town at the same time

And I remember down in the Antelope Valley how SP ran Pershiable Trains one west, one east. Sad SP lost all that buisness to trucks though!
