Nostalgia & History > Kodachrome SD9 on the NWPDate: 10/06/06 23:13 Kodachrome SD9 on the NWP Author: loleta When these colorful SD9s began to appear on the NWP, it was a matter of trial and error: eventually one would be on the point and the weather would cooperate. All photos are from late '92 - early '93:
1. SD9 4418 parked behind the depot in Petaluma. Note the NWP water car. 2. At Haystack, just south of the Petaluma River Drawbridge in Petaluma. 3. The NWP SPRINT train crosses the Petaluma River a second time at Black Point. Loleta Fernbridge Date: 10/06/06 23:18 Re: Kodachrome SD9 on the NWP Author: loleta 4. At Reclamation, between Black Point and Sears Point.
5. Approaching yet another drawbridge, this time across the Napa River at Brazos. 6. Okay, it's not the southern NWP but it's not too far away: Kodachrome GP9 3792 switching General Mills at the end of SP's Vallejo Branch. In the background, pilings remain from the old ferry slip. Your perseverance paid off with some really nice photos.

It's not the restrictions on logging that have killed the North coast logging industry (although the restrictions have had an effect) but rather the economics of logging a dwindling resource and the simple fact that most of the viable trees not located in a park were cut down years ago. There's nothing left! It's time for people to let go of the NWP. Nothing lasts forever. SW1200 Date: 10/09/06 09:23 Re: Kodachrome SD9 on the NWP Author: JMaurer1 A pox on you for even saying that. Everything lasts forever. I too don't want to see the NWP go. Thanks for sharing such great pictures with us.
