Nostalgia & History > Santa Fe Divisions Question?Date: 06/15/07 21:27 Santa Fe Divisions Question? Author: SCAX3401 The Santa Fe Railway combined its operations into six divisions systemside in 1988 (I believe this was the date). Can anybody give me the names of the divisions BEFORE and AFTER this occurred? These are the ones that I know of:
PRE-REALIGNMENT Los Angeles Division: Needles west except trackage from Barstow to Oakland/Richmond. Valley Division: Oakland/Richmond to Barstow (the main line branch line) Albuquerque Division: Albuquerque to Needles and Phoenix Colorado Division: Dodge City (I believe) to Albuquerque via Raton Pass. POST-REALIGNMENT: California Division: West of Needles Arizona Division: Needles to Belen/Albuquerque New Mexico Division: Belen to Amarillo, Belen south, Belen north to La Junta. Texas Panhandle trackage to Sweetwater area. Any help with this will help greatly, thanks! Date: 06/15/07 21:56 Re: Santa Fe Divisions Question? Author: bnsfbob BNSF6400 Wrote:

Author: Evan_Werkema Santa Fe put up signs at the division boundries, or at least some of them. Here are a few I found:
1. At the junction switch at Isleta, NM, "End Albuquerque Division" eastbound. The other side said "End New Mexico Division." 2. At the end of double track at Hahn in northern Albuquerque, "End Colorado Division" westbound. The other side said "End New Mexico Division." These two signs used signboards and fittings common to the standard "Keep Off" sign, but that wasn't always the case... 3. Near St. Francis, TX, "New Mex. Div." westbound (presumably indicating "Begin New Mexico Division" instead of "End" as on the other signs). The other side said "Kansas Div." This is a former station sign - close examination showed the name "Kerrick" underneath the new lettering. Kerrick, TX is on the Amarillo, TX - Las Animas, CO line near the Oklahoma border. |
