McCloud #37 on the way to Burney June 26th 2006

Seems strange this photo should already come under "nostalgia" but as freight operations over this section of the railroad, I guess it qualifies. June 26th, 2006, as McCloud Railway SD38 #37 takes the last group of empties to Burney. This photo is taken at what is known as the "408 Crossing".

Did #37 ever have the brown paint job?

Yes, it did. The #37 got the brown in the early spring of 1983 and was the last of the three to be painted.
