Train 808 lead by four SD9's past the Glendale Station. This train is heading for Taylor Yard just a few miles away.

Splendid scene! Looks like the lead SD9 spent some time over Tehachapi.

Nice image Bob, but we both know he went into Glendale siding with three hours to go and died on the law waiting to get into Taylor. (>:

IIRC the "siding" from Glendale to the top end of the A-Yard at Taylor was called "the slide".

Sure nuff-- the 4/60 timetable shows 808
due into LA Yard at 2130 PST. Josserand
gives the impression the dispatcher would
never let a train get near 12 hours late.
Too bad it's overcast-- I wonder how sure
we can be everything's according to Hoyle.

What if he had annulled 808 east of Burbank Jct?
He would have to stop them there to give them
that order?

Correct RTB, it was the slide. It was also used as a tail track at the top end of Taylor yard when crews would pull out long cuts to switch out, or double over, and at times used as a temporary storage track.

Speaking of the "Slide"... notice in the photo it hadn't been extended to (and past) Glendale depot at that time. I wonder when it was extended all the way up to the Franciscan (dinnerware, bowls, etc.) Industries switch to the east main?

Any ideas?

"Hip replacement surgery"... been there, done that, too ... both sides! Loads of fun, and drugs! (I'll have to give Vince a call.)
