Here is an interesting accident report on the S.P.
about a head-on collision at the old Hasson siding in Santa Susana Ca.
back in 1939.

The original Hasson siding was removed sometime in the 40s
from what info I have gathered.

Hasson was (is?) also the location of the spur to Southern Standard Co (at least per 1987 SPINS). Rocketdyne got deliveries of helium (anyone recall the helium cars?). Not sure if they were to Southern Standard, or another spur (that's gone).

Yes, the old helium spur remained as a MofW spur for quite a while, just west of the Katherine Rd. grade crossing.

I have spotted many helium cars at Southern Standard... the helium was unloaded and trucked up to the Rocketdyne engine test facility in the Santa Susana Pass. The facility was or is now on the EPA Superfund Clean Up list for soil contamination ...
