When the Cardinal had Superliners

Hi, as a non railroad employee i have a question about photo #3. There is alot of strange looking things under the rails between the derails and under the conrail unit.One thing is
the 3 yellow looking boxes. i'm sorry for my lack of knowledge on this.Steve (up6553)

The black things around the track and under the CR unit are mats that catch fuel spills and oil leaks so they don't soak into the ground. The 3 Yellow boxes are not boxes but stairs that go down the the inspection pit so crews can inspect under the loco.

that is a decent train all of those riders on single level equipment today?

No superliners now, Dan. Today's Cardinal is Amfleet, Viewliner Sleeper, and Heritage Baggage car.
