Happy Thanksgiving 2012
Author: refarkas

Here is a memory that I am thankful to have of EL railroading when I first started railfanning. During the late 1960's and early 1970's, the EL served a first-generation feast of classic locomotives and fallen-flag freight cars. Here are EL 7094, 7263, 7072, 7091 heading east through Akron, Ohio on a beautiful mid-year day. While the date is unknown, this may certainly bring back first-generation memories to those of us who were blessed to live them.

Great shot. Strange to see F units pulling pigs.

I used to sit on the bank above where you took this picture and eat lunch on the week-ends when I worked downtown. Sure does bring back memories.

Bob,

Great shot. The EL tried and tried. Here's a happy T'day to all the EL folks that are still with us.

Wow, what a classic, another fantastic Farkas photo! Much has changed between then and now at that location, railroad and otherwise. Love those cars up in the Quaker Oats yard too.

Thanks for the comments and information. The EL was a classy railroad, and it showed.

This may be the only EL Alco FB of which I have a color image. It is one of the reasons this photo is so special to me.
