Nostalgia & History > RS-1 MondayDate: 11/26/12 19:21 RS-1 Monday Author: Q4960 I guess that should be GM&O RS-1 Monday. Back on the Dwight to Washington branch 40 years or so ago.
1) The local near Cazenovia. This was the second or third photo I had published, in Railroad Magazine. 2) Metamora 3) Pacing. That doesn't look like a regular crew member. Roger Holmes Date: 11/26/12 19:25 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Q4960 4) Near Washburn.
5) At the TP&W diamond in Washington. 6) Arriving at the Washington Depot - agent Olin Gibson. Date: 11/26/12 19:31 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Q4960 7} Washington, Illinois. Caboose is an ex-Mobile & Ohio.
8) Interior of the caboose. 9) I preferred the previous caboose, ex-B&O shown at Dwight, Illinois. Roger Holmes Date: 11/26/12 19:31 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Cumbres more goodies! Thanks.
Date: 11/26/12 20:28 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Bob3985 Great photos Roger. I should dig into some of my GM&O slides and post them.
Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 11/26/12 20:29 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Q4960 Thanks - and please do!
Roger Date: 11/26/12 21:26 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: FP45 Roger these shots are fantastic! I never thought i would ever see Cazenovia or Washburn on Trainorders! Again, it's great to see my hometown road covered so well. Wish i could have seen it myself.
Sean in Lacon IL Posted from Android Date: 11/26/12 21:34 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: Q4960 I'm glad that it put a smile on your face! I graduated from Eureka College in 1972 and on several Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, when my class schedule allowed, I would drive over to Washington and then up the branch until I saw the local then chase it back to the depot. One Saturday I chased the train the distance from Washington to Dwight. I asked the conductor if he could put the kerosene markers on the caboose for the trip but complained that they would get too dirty doing that. He agreed to putting one on for the trip.
Roger Date: 11/27/12 06:46 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: njmidland You want RS-1's? OK! New York, Susquehanna & Western #252 leads three sisters east past the Hainesburg, NJ station after picking up interchange traffic from the Lehigh & New England at Hainesburg Jct. Overhead is the Paulins Kill Viaduct of the Lackawanna. Taken in 1960 by John Treen.
Tim Date: 11/27/12 07:06 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: refarkas You captured the heart and soul of a class one railroad's local train.
Bob Date: 11/27/12 07:14 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: rrhistorian These are really wonderful photos - you really captured the sense of place served by the railroad and the environment that the railroaders worked in. I hope that you are able to share more.

When did the branch get abandoned? Date: 11/27/12 09:04 Re: RS-1 Monday Author: mopacrr The GM&O Local with the grain elevators in the picture add to railroad scene that locals worked in and around. I think too many time fans, myself included , focus too much on the train and not enough on the surroundings ie. depots, elevators, freight houses. It was all part of the railroad scene up to the late 70's, . I did in some cases, but not near good job as I should have.
