Nostalgia & History > Last steam use on the PennsyDate: 12/01/12 12:06 Last steam use on the Pennsy Author: NKP715 What was the last run of steam on the Pennsy
in regular service - locomotive, date, location, etc. Quite certain it was in November, 1957. This question excludes the 0-6-0 that ran later on-lease. Date: 12/01/12 13:23 Re: Last steam use on the Pennsy Author: bnsfbob NS1703 Wrote:

It was probably on the NY&LB. Bob Date: 12/01/12 16:06 Re: Last steam use on the Pennsy Author: BlackWidow Seems there was an article in Classic Trains a couple years ago about a steam engine running on the Pemberton Branch of the PRR in New Jersey in the last 1950s.
Date: 12/01/12 18:44 Re: Last steam use on the Pennsy Author: RLcabin According to Lloyd Stagner in his book American Steam Finale, the last Pennsy steam run was 12/2/1957 when L-1 class 2-8-2 2369 ran from Phillipston to Renovo. The last NY&LB run was 10/27/57 and the last Pennsylvania Reading Seashore lines run was 11/12/57.
As NS1703 points out, a Pennsy 0-6-0 last ran while on lease to the Union Transportation Co. on 7/17/59. Best regards, RL Cabin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 12/01/12 18:55 by RLcabin. I seem to remember seeing the occasional steam locomotive on the Pennsy in the late 1950s in Whiting, IN. Of course, I was in grade school then and it was long ago...
