Feather River Friday 1993
Author: UP9000

On June 12th, 1993, my Dad and I, along with two other railfan friends, headed up to the Feather River Canyon for a weekend camp out at the Williams Loop. This is back when the UP in California was still cool, and a couple years before the SP merger. UP provided a handful of trains during daylight hours. And a long lull in the evening. Yet as soon as we retired to our sleeping bags, the trains began to roll. To this day, we still argue about the number of trains that went by in the night. Somewhere between 6 and 8. And of course come sun up, we got one, and then another long lull.

Here are three photos taken on Saturday the 12th.

Photo 1 A UP eastbound stack train crossed the Rock Creek Trestle.

Photo 2 A UP WB stacker makes a trek around the Williams Loop.

Photo 3 A bit before sundown, a trio of SD40's roar eastbound upgrade through Williams Loop.

And lots of mosquitoes. Can't tell how many times I've been bitten going to Williams Loop. No amount of bug spray could stop them buggers.

Great pics BTW
