I'd heard about this incident for many years but never knew the details or where exactly it happened. The Hageman Rd. crossing has been notorious for years and, as posted above, only recently got a separation of grade. I'd heard it was bad but I didn't know it what that bad. Wow.

The two underpasses are about 1.5 miles from my home here in the Rosedale part of Bakersfield. At night I can hear the trains blow for the crossing where the derailment occured. JDE |
