The Niagara Rainbow....GCT - Detroit train funded by New York and Michigan. The ex-NH combine was a regular part of the consist for a while. The train ran over the former NYC subsidiary Canada Southern. Dave Date: 12/09/13 14:33 Re: Some older Amtrak Author: DavidP garrett Wrote:

I don't think it's in freight service (although I see the gon coupled behind)....more likely awaiting delivery to Amtrak. After several years of various assignments around the system, they seemed to find homes mostly on the Sunset Limited and Auto Train. The last P30CHs were retired in 1992 when the B32-8WHs arrived. If I recall correctly, the Broadway Limited was the first train to sport an all-Amtrak painted consist from the E-units in front to an observation car in the year. I believe the year was 172. Amtrak wasn't able to keep on running all-matched consists on the Broadway Limited as evidenced by a couple of the images. The black 303 looks particularly awful. Probably didn't inspire much confidence or enthusiasm among those who rode trains pulled by this unit.
