The 2014 Soo Line Historical & Technical Society Convention is scheduled for September 18-21 in Ladysmith WI, so, for the next few weeks, I’ll be posting train orders from movements over various lines that comprised the pre-Milwaukee SOO.

Today we’re looking back 45 years and picking up Extra 706 East at Ladysmith, appropriately enough, with orders taking him through to Stevens Point. SOO 706 was a GP30 that was subsequently conveyed to Wisconsin Central, while the 804 on No. 9 was from an order for ten U30C’s delivered in 1968; it was also the last order that SOO placed with GE.

Of the four issuing locations in this set, all of the depots but Junction City are still in existence.
