Nostalgia & History > Depot Friday, Portland, OR 1918Date: 12/19/14 11:30 Depot Friday, Portland, OR 1918 Author: MartyBernard First picture and caption from the City of Portland Archives.
"Union Train Station 1918: Portland’s impressive Union Station is shown here in 1918, 22 years after its 1896 opening. The building itself has remained remarkably unchanged in 117 years but the forecourt, parking and roadways have changed many times over the years. The “Union Station” and “Go By Train” signs at the top of the clock tower were not installed until 1948." I took Picture 2. from about the same angle in June 1993. The little balconies on the clock tower are a nice touch. Enjoy, Marty Bernard Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 12/19/14 11:35 by MartyBernard. |
