The reports of wildfires around Essex reminded me of a shot I took in March of '82. This was before the walkway over the tracks, and cross country skis were to be REMOVED before crossing. I hope the people and buildings all survive
intact. Miss the BN - GN and and easier going time.

Nice photo. Roughly a decade before our first visit to the Izaak Walton Inn.

Depot is still standing in that photo. First photo I saw of the Essex depot was in the National Georgraphic book on railroad. IIRC, it was a  night shot of the exterior and an inside shot of the helper crew sitting on benches waiting on the next assignment.

I too am hoping for the best. With the burn, the scenery will take years to get back to what we are accustomed to. However, we will still have the Inn.
