WP GP20 2009 creeps onto Ninth Street in Modesto CA with the local job from Stockton. This is WP's subsidiary Tidewater Southern and the date is  March 9, 1980.

WP's GP20s were the first production units delivered and featured high hoods and dual control stands which means the hogger on this train, though running long hood forward, is not craning his back and neck to run his train. Here is a surviving WP Hyrail in 2015. Long ago lost its hyrail gear, the WP decals are almost completly worn off and its maintenance number bearly readable. But she still lives on waiting full restoration that will start after the first of the year. Now if I could only find fairmont gear and original 22 inch wheels.
