X5318 near Napa Jct. 1960

SP5318 leads a train from the NWP interchange at Schellville. Its passing MP64 while the rear of the train is still crossing the Napa River.

Can't give the exact year but it was in the early 1980's - I'm sure somebody will give a more exact answer.

The bridge is Brazos. Lombard Yard is behind the photographer, and on the other side of that (and Highway 29) is Napa Jct.

Information in the Harre Demoro book...sic

They replaced the bridge, to get the BART tube sections down river from Napa Pipe plant...
Kaiser Steel.  Work to Mare Island bridge also...Bridge name "Brazos".  SP Napa river MP...in TT

Made in Japan and floated to Calif.  Erected by the Japanese engineers.

Great shot, Bob! I don't recall seeing a SD-7 with a plow on it before... Was this common?

Heard that one before, but alas, the channel was wide enough with the old swing bridge (just barley)...
