Very nice looking E's.  That Amtrak painted E really shines.

Nice scans. The icicle breakers and plow pilots were added by the SP at Roseville???

The UP paint with the Donner icicle bars and SP plows are very distinctive. I would think they only lasted a few months like that, they always seem to have a bow wave on the nose, suggesting those months were in winter.

Doubt it was Roseville but I understand it was an SP requirement for the icicle breaker bars and the plow. The concern was the dome cars getting damaged, the story goes that sometimes they required the dome car seating area be closed while they went across Donner. I would think the breaker bars and plow would have been the same design as on the SP FP-7's and some other F units.
