top: McCloud SD38 working in McCloud, CA.
middle: OPE unit at facility in Cottage Grove, OR.
bottom: UP local Redmond, OR. ** new photo replacing COP photo from decades later.**

I never noticed those McCloud SD38's had such tiny fuel tanks.

The COP photo must have been from another trip about 10 years later as I don't believe they received the former MILW "GP20" until the 80's.  

Yes that SD38 must have had the smalled fuel tank EMD offered.  Funny I don't remember it being that small when the unit was running about on the SP in the late 70's under lease.  

I also missed out on seeing that OP&E unit in service.  All I saw were SW8's during that line's last few years.

You are correct, COP was WAY out of order, replaced.

The last SD-38 purchased by Mc Cloud #39 was the only one that had the normal sized fuel tank. I might be wrong but I believe the 39 was a dash 2 unit also.
