Everything in this photo makes it a candidate for a
Tide commercial  -- the worker's greasy clothes, the
ground, grimy locomotives, etc.  Even the coal tower
adds to the atmosphere.  RDG Trainmaster and a
L&HR RS-3 at Allentown, PA in October of 1966.

In your image years of steam and then the transition to diesel has "weathered" everything with a blackish coating. Modern facilities are usually much cleaner. Thanks for this interesting observation and image.

The L&HR really needed a wash rack. Their otherwise well-maintained units were generally filthy.
