Council Bluffs Railway 714
Author: MartyBernard

Wikipedia says: The Council Bluffs Railway (CBGR) was a shortline Class III railroad that handled freight switching operations in Council Bluffs, Iowa. It operated from May 1991 until July 2006, when it was sold to the Iowa Interstate Railroad. The Council Bluffs Railway was an OmniTRAX subsidiary.

I found CBGR 714 hiding in Council Bluffs, IA on July 3, 1991.  She was a GP7 built as ATSF 2658 in October 1950.

Enjoy,

I saw it last year as Burlington Junction Railway 714 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Pretty sure it's the same one.
Every once in a while I would catch the 714 picking up cars from the Q yards in Council Bluffs. Didn't seem to be out very often.
The NW5 that 714 is coupled to actually still exists more or less.  The "shell" was sitting on a boxcar near the location of the 714 photo, which is the Wabash/N&W engine house. Due to the construction of the I-80/I-29 roads in Council Bluffs it may have been moved, I haven't been that way recently.  Hope you don't mind if I include a photo from Sept 5, 2007..
