Tuesday Two - South Street 1976
Author: refarkas

Chessie System in 1976 still ran many lashups with fallen flag-painted units. Here are two late-afternoon images from South Street in Akron, Ohio in 1976.
Image one: B&O 3503, 6513, and C&O 6198 head west on June 5, 1976.
Image two: B&O 3704, 3759, and 4123 head east in July 1976.

Very nice photos Bob.  Keep in mind that it took many years for the Chessie System to repaint all those locomotives and in many cases there were locomotives that continued to operate in original fallen flag paint colors into the CSX era.  No F units ever received the Chessie paint scheme from any of the three railroads merged to form the Chessie System, the B&O, the C&O and the Western Maryland.
