Nice video with a great lccation . . . suprised with 14 cars they only had two units on the head . . anytime I have seen more than 11 or 12 coaches back then, there was always an extra unit.  Especially on the Cascade line.

Nice video.  With a clean Shouldn't Pain So Fast tunnel motor at 2:40.

I rode #14 in 2003 with 14 or 15 coaches and only 2 units -- one each of a P32 and F59 -- 6200 hp on 8 axles.

The train was packed to the gills with revenue passengers, with, if I recall correctly, 5 coaches.  And had 2 Alaska domes deadheading on the tail.

I fully expected it to be lugging along climbing Cantera Loop and up to Mt. Shasta City, but it seemed to keep track speed the whole way.

Those were the days; hardly any graffiti, plenty of SP locomotives and cars, RBLs, and intermodal in a manifest. Thanks for sharing.

Four tunnel motors up front, and four T-2's in the middle.   Just about the perfect SP train!

I agree, I wish I had a chance to head up there myself to see all that, rode 14 and 11 to/from Seattle and that is one of the longest mountain passes around! It seemed like you were on that 1.8% grade forever!
