Photo 1. Dropping down Cajon into Southern California, 5 days short of a year (and 19,600 RR miles) after I'd hired out with the AFT in Anaheim. I'd come full circle. Photo 2. In Miami I'd boxed my belongings and checked it through to LA. I'd marked it with an AFT bumper sticker and when I retrieved it at baggage claim I found this note scribbled on it by someone in the Amtrak system... indeed! But surely what for me would simply be embellishment, would be a life changing event in someone else's life.
