B&O 3695 Eastbound Plus
Author: refarkas

Thanks for all the comments on the original posting of image one.
There were several comments on the refrigerator cars behind B&O 3695 in yesterday's original B&O 3695 (Reposted for convenience) image. Here is 3695 leaving and a bonus of two cabooses on a westbound freight. These were all taken on December 22, 1967 in Warwick, Ohio.
Photo number two is rare in that it shows two now-removed pieces of trackage that were less-often photographed. In the far right by the pole line is the east end of what was the wye in Warwick. It connected with the B&O mainline and the tracks to Massillon, Holloway, and down to the Ohio River. The track closest to me is passing in front of WARWICK Tower as the track heads to Orrville and on to Columbus.

Nice B&O caboose shot.
In the second shot, part of a brick platform is showing.
Was there a station here along with the tower?

At one time there was a station in this general area, but I am not sure of its location. North American Interlockings has a photo mislabeled as Warrick that shows a station across the tracks from these pavement bricks. I don't know if there was another station or not.

I've read both posts on this train, and this photo is a gem. It's the reefers for me, not the locos. B&O and Chessie after that got so many GP40s I got sick of them. But I'll take a stab on the train symbol, even tho the first C&O/B&O schedule book I have is about 1970. The train is the 'New Yorker', or NYKR in schedule book abbreviations. It, and a few others, like the PHDN, the Philadelphian, and a Baltimore train too were short, fast reefer/ boxcar trains that gradually converted to piggyback as the railroads were able to get out of livestock and perishable traffic even under heavy rate and service commitment regulation. But when they had to do it, this train as shown is a perfect example of the effort they were committed to.
