Nostalgia & History > Fresh Paint Friday - SP 9600Date: 04/28/17 04:06 Fresh Paint Friday - SP 9600 Author: Englewood Ken Lanovich photo.
No date or location on slide. Process date is March, 1988. Location is most likely in the Chicago area but I can't put my finger on it. Nice looking unit. I hope you SP hoggers didn't abuse it too much. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/28/17 04:06 by Englewood. Date: 04/28/17 05:53 Re: Fresh Paint Friday - SP 9600 Author: wigwag Straight outta EMD! Wish it looked like that now.

That looks more like the Belt Railway of Chicago, Clearing Yard, where the SP units would have been "pre-serviced", then dispatched westward. The last track in the photo is the CR&I Lemoyne District branch which skirted the west side of Corwith.
In this link you'll see a similar view in photo #2....... https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4113415,4113415#msg-4113415 Date: 04/28/17 16:45 Re: Fresh Paint Friday - SP 9600 Author: Englewood The street light and trailer parking in the distance look like a match.

I don't think that is correct. Besides, that doesn't answer the location of the photo in question anyway. Date: 04/29/17 08:16 Re: Fresh Paint Friday - SP 9600 Author: ntharalson HotWater Wrote:

It was a wag based on admittedly poor memories of the EMD La Grange(McCook) plant. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA |
