Ken Lanovich photo.
No date or location on slide.
Process date is March, 1988.
Location is most likely in the Chicago area but I can't put
my finger on it.

Nice looking unit. I hope you SP hoggers didn't abuse it too much.

Straight outta EMD! Wish it looked like that now.

I'm thinking this is on the "delivery" track outside EMD waiting to be picked up
by the IHB and delivered to the SP, via?

Don't think so Nick, as the EMD card trackage was NEVER that dirty, plus there is no "shipping tape" over the horns. That looks more like the Belt Railway of Chicago, Clearing Yard, where the SP units would have been "pre-serviced", then dispatched westward.

That photo was taken at ATSF Corwith Yard. The last track in the photo is the CR&I Lemoyne District branch which skirted the west side of Corwith.

9600 was built in London.

I don't think that is correct. Besides, that doesn't answer the location of the photo in question anyway.

I'll take your word for it. It was a wag based on admittedly poor memories
of the EMD La Grange(McCook) plant.
