Nostalgia & History > 1981: Somerville, NJ in the SpringDate: 05/15/17 05:30 1981: Somerville, NJ in the Spring Author: bandob A weekend trip was to see the Duke Gardens, but when I saw there was a Somerville Train Station, I had to take a chance. I was rewarded with this shot, which must be one of the most desolate-looking commuter trains I've seen.

It used to be a four track station. With low level platforms that would horrify risk managers today. The branch down to Flemington branched off to the left. What did they look like inside during use on the CNJ? Thanks for posting.

Also the jewel box of a station building. That's now a lovingly restored law office. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?4,2485086,2485086#msg-2485086 Date: 05/16/17 03:10 Re: 1981: Somerville, NJ in the Spring Author: DavidP The 4107 was already a dozen years old when the picture was taken, and incredibly is still in service forty-nine years after being delivered to the CNJ.
