Author: hank While railfanning the Birmingham Southern railroad in May 1997, I ran across these two old and forgotten switchers. No idea of make or model. Location was near Birmingham, Alabama.

Former TC&I steel mill in Ensley, Ala. TC&I was a division of US Steel. Like many (not all) of the Birmingham-area steel plants, it closed in the 1970s. Date: 05/27/17 15:36 Re: Switcher Saturday, Old and forgotten. Author: krm152 Looks like they escaped the scrappers at least for awhile into 1997.

Author: blackmetal2002 believe it or not,i think they are still there!!!! been a while since i drove thru that area,but they have been there for a long time,early last year before the new interstate was finished,and are probably still there.
