Hey BN Fans, Tell Me About These Three

These are Roger Puta's.

1. BN 968118 in May 1980.

2. BN B3 in April 1971.

3. Roger wrote, "New BN paint scheme applied to dome coach at Aurora, IL on May 16, 1970."

Interesting enough?

Well,
1. - Prewar Q Budd coach turned MOW bunk car. Lots of coaches & sleepers got converted.
2. - B3 is an instruction car, basically a mobile classroom and got the BN passenger paint job to look it's best to the employees of this new company.
3. - xDZ Dome "Silver Brand". Was BN's attempt to figure out how they were gonna label stuff that wasn't painted.

It looks a lot like the old Rio Grande Ski Train cars, which were also ex-NP.

Did Mr Puta get a pic of that SP&S car just showing next to the B3?

B3 was an x-SP&S diner, I think (have to go look in the 1975-76 BN Annual - it covers the BN business/company service fleet).

Car in pic #1 was assigned to a sled gang that traveled the Midwest for what seemed forever. Last I saw it was labeled R-C-R and white lined on the rear of a freight heading to Lincoln for dismantling, that was in the mid 80's

What does R-C-R stand for?
I know what white-lined means, but do you think everybody who reads your comment will?
