1993: April in Cheyenne meant SD60M's
Author: bandob

Short trip for a wedding, but still had some trackside time in town to see a variety of UP locomotives, including the SD60M.

We stayed out of town west on Highway 30, I think at The Hitching Post, so most photos were taken west of town.

One afternoon my father-in-law took me out to see the Pioneer at Borie.
Swung by the BN yard on the way back to find a GP30.

Great images. My favorite is UP 3725 and train on the curve under the bridge.
Thanks for sharing these.

Great coverage of Cheyenne back then. The area around the roundhouse no longer looks anything like you captured and it is filled with passenger cars on the ground for storage plus construction work building an underground dam and collection point for hazmats. And the Firebird Motel building still stands but is no longer a motel.

Thanks, Bob's. 1993 was my last time in Cheyennne, in-laws moved to St. Joseph, MO. More BN to come from there in future years.

Would love to see any shots from Cheyenne today...as in then and now.

I like the simple paint scheme used by UP at the time: No zig zag, no flag, no slogan. Just the herald on the nose, number, and UNION PACIFIC on the hood.

That plow train with the baggage cars is cool!
It's a neat place and have great memories of my visit there in the 1980's.

I pity the poor occupants of the Pioneer sleeper directly behind the locomotive.
