Nostalgia & History > Is this meter from a locomotive?Date: 09/23/17 16:12 Is this meter from a locomotive? Author: Bowknot I found this gem on a well-known auction site, with no identifying information. Did some GE locomotives have meters that looked like this? Thanks!

Author: Jim700 I don't remember exactly the looks of them but I'm thinking this could be an ammeter from a second-generation dynamic brake equipped ALCO. About four months ago at the currently bottom of the thread at https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4306994,4307536#msg-4307536 I posted some photos of first-generation ALCO ammeters which were made by GE.

An instruction in the operating manual said something to the effect of: "at speeds over 60 MPH reduce dynamic brake to white mark on scale." G |
