Rio Grande meet at Mott early 1990's

Rio Grande 5403 with all lights blazing meets an empty BN powered garbage train at Mott. The 5403 has just climbed out of the Sacramento River Canyon while the BN train will drop down the grade for a crew change at Dunsmuir. Rio Grande power was quite evident during this time period and their units still had Gyro Lights which added a bit to the photos.

Nice catch.
The garbage trains were a big deal that everybody forgot about after the merger.
