Bringing Back The SP, Roseville and Donner, 1966
Author: FiveChime

More Roseville with some Donner material. This is the first time the SD40s appear and
in one of the Donner views a high numbered 8400 appears which I thought came a few years later.
We will see more F's working their last days on Donner in future Tom Hallendorf movie posts.

Moves taken by Tom Hallendorf and posted here with Tom's permission.

Another great video! No SW1500's quite yet but they were probably on the assembly line at the time this was shot.

Wow again. Great view of the COSF Blunt end sleeper. Thanks for sharing, again. How much more are you going to post Jim. I know unfortunately it will have to end sometime.

Thank you for posting,
where was that 2 car commuter train at?
(A nice train to model for a smaller layout.)

Commute train was in San Mateo. A lot of these are featured in past TH movie postings.

Most of the SP SD40 fleet was built in 1966. The last 10 units, SP 8479-8488, were built in 1968. The numbers I could see in this video were all units from the 1966 order.

Wow - cool stuff!! Amazing lash-ups back in the day.

What also caught my eye was, near the end, three sparkling clean DT&I hi-cube cars - fantastic!!

Thanks for posting.

The single F unit helper on one of those manifest trains looked funky to me! I expect to see Fs on the point - shoving (or braking) with the nose against a caboose just didn't look right!

Great set of videos. While I appreciate the yard and shop footage, the main line footage (whether on the peninsula or on Donner/other) is fantastic. The SP I remember when my family was driving on 101 from Richmond to Carpinteria to visit my grandma back in the 60's.
