N&W - New Automobile's - Late 1970's
Author: Thoroughbred-Ed

An Eastbound N&W - Norfolk and Western Railroad ( Now Norfolk Southern ) leaves Conneaut, Ohio -
70 miles east of Cleveland towards Buffalo, N.Y. May 28, 1978.
The open auto racks with new automobiles are history as today they are all enclosed.
The graffiti people in their painting, well, its their business not mine.

In the late 1970's railroads start attaching protection sides to prevent damage to auto's
from kids throwing rocks. Then later they started to apply metal roofs from kids throwing rocks from bridges.
As time went on the graffiti people moved in and starting doing their thing.
What happen to the old school days of discipline.

Interestingly, I have videos I took of the Tropicana Juice train in the 1990's with no graffiti at all. Today that train is nasty with it. It's like someone suddenly decided that vandalism became "art".

Looks like Chryslers for Buffalo and/or Voorheesville, NY on the D&H.

That is exactly what I need for modeling open HO auto racks in the late 1970's.
