Nostalgia & History > WAG Wednesday: Mile High ChallengerDate: 05/16/18 09:23 WAG Wednesday: Mile High Challenger Author: santafe199 It’s getting late in the game for fans of Uncle Pete’s water heaters, both large & small! In 1955 Bill Gibson was in Denver and shot a long deadline of Union Pacific steam. I’m sure he was much happier shooting a live Challenger ready for another day’s work. Here’s a depressing shot from the UP steam morgue plus a much more cheery live roster shot. Both from the camera of our esteamed WAG Sr…
1. UP steam deadline in Denver, CO. 2. UP 4-6-6-4 3959 is ready to roll in the Mile High City. Photo date both images: August 21, 1955. Two photos by William A. Gibson (WAG) Sr. Thanks for looking back! Lance Garrels (santafe199) Art Gibson (wag216) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/05/22 02:33 by santafe199. She was on the point of a train leaving Denver the next day. It's quite a remarkable shot, well worth a second look! Here's a link:
