Burlington Northern EMD SW1000 449 takes 5 (well maybe 10) at the station platform at Omaha, Nebraska. July, 1984. Date: 10/19/18 04:51 Re: Lunch! Author: Korigaoka1811 For the record, here's a picture of 449 (and her crew inside) at work from the Martha Street overpass in Omaha in 1975.

When I was switching here in Cheyenne before I went in engine service we would be known to sit on the platform boxes while going down the track discussing moves or reading switch lists and bracing ourselves like this gentleman, with his foot on the handrail support.

Date: 10/19/18 15:28 Re: Lunch! Author: Korigaoka1811 This time its the UP in Omaha. I just dug up this picture of a crewman riding ouside while his SW9 heads off to work down the line. I also took this picture from the Martha Street overpass, but in 1975.
John Date: 10/19/18 22:06 Re: Lunch! Author: overniteman I can recall this shot.
My first time in Omaha and I was standing by the Amhut. The SW came off what looked like a wye(?) that was to the right and stopped in front of me. A set of SD40-2's brought a train from the same direction the SW came from and crossed the UP bridge. Then the SW took off towards the wye(?). Is there a wye by the station? |
