Started digitizing some slides that have been hidden away for quite awhile and came across this former READING GP39-2 that was disguised as CSX in March 1992.  Picture was taken in Akron, Ohio.

Pretty interesting how the D&H blue is so far gone they put green down for the numbers lol. How did CSX end up with these again?

In late 1989 the lease with GATX was up. They were actually leased to Conrail and they wanted to be taken out of the middle. The D&H was bankrupt and was being run by the NYS&W.

CSX agreed to step in and buy them, paid to overhaul 4 of them at MK and continue to lease them to the D&H. When CP came along, they were returned to CSX.
